With the development of connections at high speed, the computer of a subscriber to the Internet often remains permanently connected to the network. As a result, the computer could become prey to a hacker able to take control. To guard against such an intrusion, it is necessary to activate a tool called Firewall.

Load the Control Panel and click Windows Firewall. Check first that the Enabled check is active.

The Exceptions tab shows a list of programs that by their nature, need to access your computer. If you use such a program (eg: an online game), we must add to the list by clicking on Add Program. You can then locate the name of the program on your hard drive and validate your choice.

Some software like Norton Utilities will install their own tools Firewall. If so, it is best to disable the Windows Firewall.
